Vegetable garden

I needed a distraction from the PrettyUglys so we decided to make a vegetable garden. Not the half-baked effort of last year, ha ha. We have been out every morning before work this week and now it is ready. We are just waiting for the cold snap that is expected this weekend to be over and then we will start planting. It looks like its in the shade but remember, my darling, that the sun travels south for the summer.

Thorn in my side

How is this even possible? Seen on our walk, Sunday morning.

From B: Supposedly the Shrike "Laksman" bird does that to prey.
Comes back later when it is dead.

In a world gone mad

This was my very thought.

Groenkloof Nature Reserve

Only minutes from the city centre. A moment to relax and breathe. Thanks for the morning, I really needed the break.

FNB Joburg Art Fair 2014

I apologise for the lights, glares and flares on some of the images. I took mostly close-ups of the artwork.

Flasher

I made this sign at work. I watch people in the traffic and pick a person that I think would enjoy the message. The best reaction I have had was the first time I flashed someone. His whole face lit up and he put his hands together and said thank you. If I made his day, he certainly made mine.

This and that – winter edition

one - a wall waiting for spring. two - detail of a fabulous Deborah Bell painting at the Turbine Hall. three - flowers in my therapy room. four - a sliver from my palm tree that was cut down. Have sealed it and am going to hang it on the wall. five - I made this stencil to put onto my tiles but I don't like the green colour after all. six - I like the contrast.

Time for nothing else

Well, I have to make 250 PrettyUglys so there is no time for anything else. Everywhere you look there are unfinished PrettyUglys waiting for names, stories and trims. Everyone is as cute as the next. Love them all. Hope they all get to go to good homes.

Thanks for the flowers

Ha ha! I see you couldn't decide ;-) Thanks, they are all wonderful. xxx

Bright colours

We continued our journey with Hospice to a creche in Soweto. We woke the little ones from their afternoon nap and joined them in a sing-along after they had eaten their custard.

Hospice Wits shop

As part of a work project we visited the Hospice Wit shop in Orange Grove, on Friday. Lots of treasures to be found. Thabang bought a hat. I went back the next day and bought a few things.

A piece of felt

This is the first piece of felt I made after being inspired by the demonstration at Yarn Indaba. My dog reshaped it before I could photograph it.

Creative Inspiration Spoken Word Session

Every Monday morning we have a Creative Inspiration hour, 09:30 – 10:30. Any one in the company can compile a presentation, about anything. Today one of our colleagues revealed his great passion, poetry. Most of us didn't even know these words dwelled within him, that this quite man had so much to say, could say it so boldly. Sky Radebe, so glad to have met the real you today. M'wah! And his friend, Oratile Majoe, also blew us away with his words, with his drive to keep poetry alive. What an awesome way to start the week.

Shwe-shwe

I love Shwe-Shwe but look at the new range - the colours are awesome! But the traditional designs will always be lovely.

Pure wool

At the Yarn Indaba I bought a bargain bag of wool that had different colours, at odd lengths and this is the scarf I made from that.

Irene Dairy Farm

Spent a lovely day here with family. Relaxed, happy, bliss. M'wah!

Yarn Bomb

They yarn bombed the steps of the Voortrekker monument. 600 odd blankets from I don't know how many squares. I made a small contribution of some squares but was not able to spot them in this display ;-)

Yarn Indaba

It was smaller than we thought, but very interesting. Watched a felting demo and just loved it - will be trying some of that.
