Student Exhibition

The student exhibition at Open Window was stunning – the quality of work was wow and the presentations were very professional. The portfolio books were awesome. Congratulations to all the students that had work on display – please choose a career partner/employer (if not starting on your own) that will allow you to continue producing this quality of concept and standard of work, otherwise walk away. You don't need to compromise, you have something great to offer. Good luck!

I did photograph the student work but felt that grouping it together in little snapshot and thumbnails wouldn't do it justice. You really need to see it 'in lewende lywe'.

Mac-max and friends

So last season

I want to make paper mache bowls and use doily inlays. This is my first attempt and there are lessons to be learnt from this: 1. opacity of paper is too dense – you can't see the doilies until you hold the bowl up to the light, duh! So have bought tissue paper. 2. Although it feels as though it is all dried out, it is not. So if you remove it too early it loses its shape.

Nataniël's new book – Nicky & Lou – is lovely. I am not going to highlight any passages from it because you should really read the whole story (46 stories), the whole book. Funny, with a sad undertone.

Pure Karoo

Isn't the packaging just beautiful?
Bought it from African Relish at the FoodWineDesign fair.
Anyway, I gave it to someone as a gift – no regrets :-)
