Christmas table 2017

We celebrate Christmas on Christmas eve. I start early in the year with my ideas for the table and start to collect and make the stuff as early as July. you may think that's crazy but that way i'm not rushing last minute and then i don't have the added expense either. This year I sewed the tablecloths and serviettes (usually I buy them ready-made), and goody bags. The fabric for the serviettes and bags I 'took' from work, they had used it for an event last year.  I only baked the biscuits 2 days before Christmas because it was too hot to be in the kitchen, but then eventually it couldn't be put out any longer. I made 8 different kinds, and even had a savoury one. They were truly delicious, even if I must say so myself. My sister-in-law's Stollen was incredible, I could have eaten the whole thing in one sitting.

O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree

I usually spend 4-5 hours decorating the tree for Christmas, but the last few years my nieces have been doing it. They make it look awesome and it takes them... wait for it, ...all of 20 minutes. I haven't bought any decoration in many year but have put together a good amount over the years.

Advent calendar

Made an advent calendar for my nieces. A box with envelopes for each day, containing 2 photographs of our time together during 2018. It was a wonderful year with them, they are amazing and inspiring.

Christmas colour palette

Getting so excited for Christmas. Have decided on this colour scheme, with lots of white. added the two green baubles just so 'it pops', as our clients would say.

I know a bargain when I see it

I bought all these second-hand Christmas baubles at the local charity store. We're going to hang them on the patio above the Christmas table. Will post an image when we're done.

W is for wishing, L is for love

We started to wrap our Christmas presents, and it's really fun. Keeping it really simple - white and brown wrapping paper only. The presents are scattered all across the dining room table, so we'll be eating in the kitchen in the meantime.

I filled these terracotta pots (6 small and 3 large) with plants and succulents from my garden. I hope by Christmas the pots will look awesome, stuffed and brimming over with greenness and best wishes.

Advent calendar

I am planning things for Christmas already! Have filled a box with packets and parcels for my 2 nieces. Two of everything, identical items, one for each. This is their advent calendar. I can't wait for 1 December when they open the box and see all the 'presents'.

Christmas tablecloth

I can only assemble it on the day, but this is my idea for my Christmas tablecloth. White and cream doilies stuck onto newsprint. Pretty.

Christmas was so long ago

Christmas was so long ago and the Valentine's merchandise is already on display but I thought I'd just share it with you anyway. It was a lovely time spent with family.

My sister-in-law baked the best biscuits. They were so yummy. I think they were finished my Boxing Day. Boo hoo.

Adding some sparkle to the garden

I added some decorations to a tree that has died. We chopped it down and I took a branch, 'planted' in a pot and added some bling. I have placed it at the front door. Welcome everyone!
