I took an old tray of my mother's painted and stencilled it, to match the table I did earlier this month.
Not quite the twin set, though.

Pallet project
We turned these pallet into pool loungers. They are so comfortable. Roll them into the sun or shade, whatever.
DIY weekend, painting the lounge walls
We painted the entrance hall, dining room and lounge as well this weekend. It's open plan so it all got the same colour. The chimney wall, however, we left in African Mud and the library we had done earlier this year in the dark blue.
A few weeks ago we had selected a green paint and had painted half the walls with it but when we stepped back and took it all in we realised we hated it. For two weeks we tried to like it, let it grow on us but on Friday morning we stopped at Builders Warehouse on the way to work to buy this colour. At the end of the weekend our mistake was no more. Yipee!

New look library
We repainted the library walls, the colour is Ocean Melody, but I'm calling it Varicose Vein Blue.
We are very happy with the result, we sat on the couch with a glass of wine admiring our work. Yes, we have read all those books and more. As soon as there are more books than shelf space we take a bag of books for redistribution to a charity.

Stencilling onto a pallet
The design and the application. The stencil uses a section of our bathroom floor stencil design since these elements will be in close proximity to one another.
I wanted it to look like an old piece of stencilling that was discovered, discarded in the back of the garage. Watch out next week to see what happens to the pallet, and how we turn it into a side board or something similar.

Original art acquired
My nieces each painted a canvas for me, as a gift this Christmas. Love them, love the artwork. M'wah!

Everyday DIY
No harm in doing a little DIY before work in the mornings. Benches and garden furniture before the rains start.

At last she found the golden house of love
I also bought a Elsbeth Eksteen at Kamersvol. I love her style.
At last she found the golden house of love is the title of the painting.

The history of things
I'm not really a hoarder but there are some things that I'm so glad I have kept.
My father made these chairs, 4 of them, in the 1960's. They are the most comfortable seats. I only have them because my brother doesn't have the space for them, but thanks bro.
The little paraffin stove is also from our childhood. My mother would put it in the bathroom on winter evenings to keep the room warm during our bath. But wait, it gets better. She would put a saucepan on the top with milk and when the milk was heated we would have a glass of warm milk while in the bath. Bliss.
The painting is from the 'old country' and always hung in the dining room at home. It hangs in my 'library'.

Dark woman
I found a B/W photograph in a magazine of woman. The pic was dark, the woman's mood seemed dark, so I attempted to do a dark illustration of the photo, of the woman. I made it darker still, and sadder still. And even though I used guides the proportions are distorted and now she looks like someone who would commit dark deeds too.
The vision I had in my head of how it would look are not mirrored in the execution. Sorry, lady. Argh!

Painting a flower
I saw Marina Louw's work again and I just love her style, so I was inspired to do this painting. I love unfinished work, so you can fill the spaces in with your imagination. The small visual at the bottom is how I left it until I decided to just add a little more colour.

I fixed things this weekend that I have been putting off for years, well 2 years at the most. It was fun!
