Do what you want to do, go where you want to go for your birthday. My niece chose Gold Reef City. They went on every ride they could, they were even prepared to queue, no problem. Dumbo, dinosaurs, Flintstones, teacups, hot air balloons, bumper cars, safari train, and so on. We crawled across the old steam trains and visited the petting zoo. We had lunch out doors and were entertained with dancing - what great rhythm, what a wonderful vibe. Then back for more rides. Eventually we were all exhausted and had to take the train to the exit because we couldn't take another step (although, of course, we did). What a fabulous day we had.
There is still something so magical about the carousel. I wish it were for adults too.

June flashback
1. I bought material to make another quilt. I enjoyed making the one earlier this year. I also want to apply what I learnt to show the improvement. 2. At last I am starting to use all the squares I have tie-dyed. 3. While we were in Durban we walked around the Moses Mabida stadium. I like that it is part of the city and so assessible. They should have done the same in Johannesburg, integrated it better into Joburg or Soweto. 4. Lunch at Weylandt. The food as beautiful was everything else there. 5. I enjoy the zigzag design on these stairs. The metal looks as pliable as a piece of paper. 6. I love the veld grass everywhere at Freedom Park. 7. Once we were Warriors. This coat of arms, I must assume, once represented pride, loyalty and commitment. 8. Bunnychow at the Oyster Box. I asked the waiter to recommend something and he said it is the best in Durban. 9. Lighthouse at the Oyster Box. 10. Seating arrangement at Moyo. 11. Where we stayed when we were in Durban, on the beachfront. 12. Interior at the Oyster Box. 13. I only had coffee there but another patron ordered another helping of chips to take away because, she said, they were soooo good. 14. Pier at Umhlanga. 15. In bloom, a tree at Tinsel gallery. 16. Yummy birthday cake. Thanks. 17. Entrance at Tinsel gallery. Nikki exhibited her jewellery piece at the student show. Some very lovely stuff.

Happy birthday
My niece turned 7 and we ate the cake before the guests arrived. Wait until you taste the frosting, white chocolate ganache, you will also have a second slice (or a third).

This and that continued
Metalwork - love the colours. Fairylights - magical evenings in the garden. Breakfast - Bacon, leek, cheese quiche. Rain and shine - it rained with the sun out, followed by thunder and clouds. Yarn bomb - my dogs yarn bombing my garden. Prank - they filled Chris' office with balloons for his birthday. Happy birthday Chris ;-) Winter warmers - made 3 pairs of fingerless gloves. It's been cold!

Birthday or anniversary?
I only just realised I have been blogging for more than 2 years now, started 21 June 2011. So a celebration is called for, but is it a birthday or an anniversary? Hmm, birthday I think, because then you can have cake ;-)

First stop - Irene Dairy Farm
It was my birthday on Friday, and usually I take the day off work, but this year there was a company function on the same day! They said I wouldn't be sorry if I came in, but gave no other details - and how right they were - what a wonderful day.
At 09h30 we had to board a bus, and we still did not know where we were going. Surprise - the first stop was Irene Dairy Farm for a short presentation and lunch. Yummy!
I didn't take my camera so all pics were taken on my cellphone.

It's all in the presentation!
I wrapped the presents and put them in a cake tin.
She may be disappointed because there's no cake. Hmmm.
