So I made my way up the road, following the tram line to the tourist attractions. There was such a long queue at Haghia Sophia that I decided: No, thank you, not today. So across the road to the Blue Mosque.
I got irritated with the tourists at the Blue Mosque, once they were inside they showed no regard or respect for the Islamic faith and the worshippers there. It was all about 'been there, done that', 'uploading my pic on Facebook now'. Argh!
Visiting a mosque: Visitors are welcome at any mosque in Istanbul. Take off your shoes before entering the prayer hall. Shoulders and knees should be covered and women are required to cover their hair. Do not eat, take photographs with a flash or disturb the worshippers.
