Walk the Talk

Yes, I did the 702 Walk the Talk. Walked 5km for charity - SOS Children's Villages. I collected their branded balloons before the walk - I choose a pink and orange one. See my 'race' number? The first two number are the year I was born, the last two numbers the street address of our home, when I was a child. The last 2.5km were uphill, it was noon, huff, puff. The first sports 'medal' I ever won, ha, ha! Yes it's just to say I finished. It was fun. Maybe I'll even do it again next year.

Macavity

Hi, I'm Macavity. I'm the cousin of Albert and Fhudge. They say I'm the black sheep of the family but I think they mean black cat! I l-o-v-e to sleep in the sun. They say its laziness but its really happiness.
I am street smart and street wise like Fhudge. I hear the human's say I have nine lives - do you think they're talking about my world trips? Hmmm, I've had 3, so 6 left.
I have learnt that a smile, a purr and a brush against someone's leg will always get you a meal, a scratch behind the ear.
Recently I felt like doing something different, something drastic (my family says its something dramatic, something extreme). I got these wonderful tattoos done by a creative tattoo artist from Stellenbosch. I think it completes me ;-)
Anymeouw, I'm going to be stay with you now – we'll sit in the sun and I'll tell you about my adventures. You'll laugh, you'll cry, before you know it I'll be the apple of your eye. M'wah!

Streetsmart, Fhudge

This is Fhudge,  a distant cousin of Albert's. Has been a stowaway on a boat from Egypt, arrived in Durban last week and hitched a ride on a truck to see us ;-) Lots of tails to tell, oops, sorry, tales.
Latest addition to the PrettyUgly range.

Cook books!

I make up cook books from recipes I cut out of magazines. I just paste them into exercise books that I have covered with fabric. They're in a crate on the kitchen counter.
The crate I picked up off the street one morning in Yeoville. Someone had thrown it out with their trash. As the saying goes: one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Baker, bread maker

Sunday morning I baked 2 olive + garlic + onion + herb breads and half dozen spinach + mushroom + blue cheese pies. Yum.

L-O-V-E-U-!

Scarred for life, scarred by love

Meouw! Meouw! Meouw!

Meet Albert, the cat. He's so much older than you and I. I have to rush home now to feed him ;-)
Latest in the PrettyUgly range.

Thanks for lunch.

My sister-in-law made a lovely lunch (my brother braaied the meat). It was so yummy I was too late to take pictures - by the time I thought of it, it was all gone. Thanks for a lovely day.

Bouquet of flowers

Made up a bouquet of flowers for a friend's birthday. I love it so much I want to keep it. But I already have so many ;-)

Tuckha-tuckha-tuckha!

Gloria (Modern Family) calls it a 'tuckha-tuckha-tucka' but you and I know it as a helicopter.
It circled the shopping centre for a while then landed in the car park.
Flashback: We had to do an aerial shoot for a client so we went up in a helicopter. It was exhilarating. The photographer was scared, either of heights or helicopters, because he didn't want to lean into the open door to take the photograph, but eventually he relaxed and we got the shot. The client made us fly a detour so he could see his house from the air - in a time before google earth and google maps, a long time ago ;-)

Birthday or anniversary?

I only just realised I have been blogging for more than 2 years now, started 21 June 2011. So a celebration is called for, but is it a birthday or an anniversary? Hmm, birthday I think, because then you can have cake ;-)

Poached!

Come on, guys! Whose idea was it to show support for anti-poaching of rhino by displaying a severed rhino horn?
If I wasn't aware of the campaign I might think each of these horns shows support for poaching. And attaching it to your car, like a hunting trophy, nee man. What message are we sending?
I am a supporter of all the anti-poaching initiatives, except this one.
