High tea

This was my mother's, I love the design and colour
and how elegant it makes me feel.

I should actually use it more often.

Why do we store away our beautiful things?

Bertelsmann Volkslexikon

Long ago, in a land far away - no, just kidding. But decades before Google we had this amazing book at home which had the answer to everything.

Flavoured memories

This morning I ate some white (although they are green) grapes. The flavour of one in particular made me remember grapes I ate for breakfast at a hotel along the Garden Route when I was 10 or 11. It made me remember other snapshots of the holiday - like the Garden of Eden, which I thought was magical. But when I revisited during my 40s I couldn't enjoy its beauty over the noise of the highway in background, running right on its rim.

Boots and all

Photograph from my father's album, but time has not been kind to this print from the 50's.

Fond memories

I remember this so clearly. Building tents with these old curtains, whether outside or under the dining room table.

My brother, the cat, our gran, the dog, and me. My dad was in front of us braaing (see the smoke on the left of the pic) and my mother took the pic. Deutschland, Deutschland uber alles :)

Pinhole camera

At college we had to make our own pinhole camera, before we were allowed to use a proper camera. The cleaner the pinhole the sharper the image. Exposure time: 2 minutes.
