These special moments

The simple things matter - a lunch under a tree on a summers day with family. Bliss.

Leafy Greens Cafe

Jill and I have had been wanting to go for ages, to the Leafy Greens Cafe. Jill is a vegetarian and I enjoy a good vegetarian meal. We had the boys with us and it was a beautiful sunny day. We got there to have brunch but decided to wait for the lunch buffet. Mmmm, well worth the wait. It was so delicious. We each bought their recipe book.

It was so delicious I went back.
After lunch walked through the fields and saw rows of wonderful vegetables, chicken running around  and sunflowers reaching for the sky. I returned to the restaurant for coffee and a take-away slice of cheese cake. Bought a few things for the pantry in the shop as well.

Happy New Year, my china

I invited my family for a lunch on Sunday and themed it because it was the Chinese New Year weekend. I made passports for the girls and told them we were going to China, they said: But we can't speak Chinese. I had bought wine in a lovely bottle, but it was potent and we only wet our lips and were drunk. It was a great day, much fun and full bellies. Incense for wealth and laughter for health.
Happy new year!

Her Majesteas Salon - revisited

Went through to Heidelberg on Saturday for lunch. Her Majesteas Salon - high tea parlour. Delicious oxtail pot pie and the best-in-the-world-ever lemon meringue. Yum. What a lovely afternoon.

Got this recipe from a friend. I did adapt it a little, sorry. But I followed the instruction to eat it with fresh Portuguese rolls. It was delicious, thanks.

Fleischsalat und Vollkornbrot

Another step back in time and into my mother's kitchen. My mother would make this on a summer's day for lunch, with Krautsalat. Or Krautsalat und Bockwurst, mit senf. Schmeckt gut!

Mushroom-filled polenta bake

Made a vegetarian meal for Jill and her family. Menu: Starter - cheese biscuits with de luxe Waldorf salad. The pic doesn't look great, but the taste was stunning. Main - mushroom-filled polenta bake, cheese and thyme cream sauce, sticky onions and pine nuts. Served with spinach, cranberry, avo salad and pickled cauliflower. Yes, I made these same two salad last weekend. Dessert - fresh strawberries. Teatime: best chocolate biscuits, ever! You bake them with the icing sugar coating.
The day was so relaxed, I enjoyed it so much.
