More books and a meal

I went into Exclusive books for one book, a gift for someone. I bought that book and another five for myself. What an extravagance! I have a pile of about 11 unread books at home.

So, having had that splurge I decided I might as well go the whole way and stay for a meal at the EB Social Kitchen and Bar. Reading a book while I wait. A great morning.

I love the colours, and the distortions reflected in the ceiling panel.

Holy cow, the food is so good

To celebrate Chris' birthday he wanted to go somewhere new, somewhere he hadn't been before. I suggested the Holy Cow. He wasn't too sure about it, uhm he said, but that's where we went. We started with a cappuccino, because they don't have a liquor licence. Good coffee. Chris had Chicken Korma while Peter and I ordered the Sri Lankan chicken curry, although we had no clue what it meant. What it meant was incredibly delicious, lick-the-bowl scrumptious, we were so happy with our choice. A nice hour and a bit then back to the office.
In an ideal world we would have spend the afternoon there. Waited a few hours and ordered dessert with more coffee. Sigh!

I am sure I took almost the same photographs as before but no matter, I can't help myself, the place is lovely.

A lovely eggsperience

Pablo Eggs Go BarDid you mean Pablo Escobar?

No. But perhaps they did when they named their restaurant. When I say Eggs Go Bar then everyone says Escobar. So it seems everyone knows about Pablo.

Pablo Eggs Go Bar is located in Mellville, where for many years, and from what I remember when I lived in the area, it had been an antique/vintage shop. Opposite the Golf Tea Room. I had booked for Savy and I to meet there for breakfast the previous week but she wanted to go somewhere closer to home.

So the following week there I was,  ordering fresh squeezed juices and something with an egg or 3 in the dish. Difficult to choose from the menu, it mostly is something you have never had for breakfast before and you certainly will be back for more. When you see the meals at the tables on either side of you being devoured with the same relish you applied to your meal you must assume everything is delicious. It's a case of 'plate-envy' - when you see what's on someone else's plate and you think maybe you should have ordered that. I could have eaten a bucket full of the hummus that was served with my dish, it was that yummy.

Book or go early because it really gets packed, the vibe is good and the clientele eclectic, very interesting.

Catch up!

We have been busy DIYing around the house so we haven't been out much, but here's a quick catch up. Left to right: Dinner at the local Indian restaurant, most delicious samosas and rice flour pancakes.
We are buying two bottles of red wine every month, estates we have never heard of. I want a pretty label, and the other bottle must have a cork, not a screw-top. Simply little rules, then we have a small glass every night, while preparing dinner, or while the sun sets, or while reading a book in bed. And soon, while we're lying in front of the fire. Coke- Cola bottle is 100 years this year and they had a travelling Coke art exhibition. Like the brand, not the product, but you must admit they really know their stuff. Collection of stuff at home. Lovely, lovely new restaurant in our area: Green Origins. See you again soon.

Windmill on Main

I have been driving past this place for years, and it just looked like a place that sold pies and some farm vegetables. But there were always so many cars parked so we decided to go have a look.See how charming it is, so beautiful. Had a lovely breakfast.
